New Demands for Record Keeping by Agencies

Most states have revised their record keeping definitions for employees and independent contractors. In essence, anyone providing essentially personal labor is covered by workers’ compensation insurance anywhere in America.

In Washington State, Washington Administrative Code 296-17-3102 was revised on Nov. 30.2011 stating actual times have to be captured to be a valid document. Otherwise, record keeping penalties would be assessed under RCW 51.48.030 at $250 per “occurrence”–what ever they want it to be. No more writing hours on time cards.

We are developing phone APPs that negate these Codes. That ought to drive the auditors nuts!
